Al Andalus

Belle Époque splendour through the heart of Andalusia

About the Train

The lounge, bar and restaurant carriages of Al Andalus were built in France between 1929 and 1930 by the Wagon-Lits Company and have since been restored to their original splendour. Slow travel in Spain's own Orient Express-style luxury train is to be savoured at leisure.

This is the epitome of romantic travel: Belle Époque charm mingles with the comfort of the modern age, transporting guests through the wonderful scenery of Spain. A dedicated train manager is on board throughout the entire journey, ready to assist at any moment. Coupled with the extraordinary Spanish sights, culture and gastronomy encountered at every stop, travel on Al Andalus is truly memorable.

Al Andalus has seven beautifully renovated sleeper carriages, five of which are original Wagon-Lits carriages dating from 1929. All suites are individually air-conditioned, with train stewards available at all times. During the day, beds fold into comfortable couches so that each suite becomes a private lounge.

  • Deluxe Suite (9.9 m² / 107 sq ft) — double bed (150×200 cm), mini-bar, safe, closet and full en-suite bathroom with shaving points and hairdryer. Twenty suites in total.
  • Grand Class Room Suite (8 m² / 86 sq ft) — two lower beds, safe, closet and large en-suite bathroom with shaving points and hairdryer. Twelve suites in total.

Al Andalus has four magnificent lounge cars dating from 1928–1930, used as restaurants, saloons and lounges. All feature large picture windows to maximise the passing scenery, and music recitals are performed in these cars. All carriages are air-conditioned and open 24 hours a day.

Both journeys depart on Sundays and conclude on Saturdays, offering an immersive week of slow travel.
How much does the Al Andalus cost?+
Fares start from €6,600 per person in a Grand Class Room Suite (double occupancy), rising to from €7,900 per person in a Deluxe Suite (double occupancy); single supplements are also available. What is included in the Al Andalus fare?+
The Al Andalus is a fully escorted luxury train experience, and most fares include on-board dining (breakfast, lunch and dinner served in the beautifully restored restaurant carriages), guided excursions at each destination, and the services of a dedicated on-board train manager throughout the journey.
